Salvaging the Historic Fabric of Our Community

At EGStoltzfus Commercial Construction, we believe preserving an iconic structure says a lot about you and your community. It says that you have a profound respect for what our forefathers have created. That you care about heritage and tradition. And the contributions of those who came before you.

We share that passion, that commitment to historic structures. And we want to help you preserve them.

With the Keppel, Steeple View, Fordney Road, Hopewell Manor, and Hanover Shoe buildings, as well as the New Holland Apartments, we met the stringent qualifications for historic preservation tax credits administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. In many cases, that meant replicating 19th century building materials, like wooden window sashes and slate roofs. We’ve repaired lathe and plaster walls.

And you can’t repoint the older soft brick used on many of these buildings using modern materials. The only mortars that will work are created using the same methods our forefathers used.
It’s just another illustration of the commitment to craftsmanship our people bring to your project. They’re master craftspeople who learned from the masters themselves. It’s our way of honoring them and giving back to those who came before us.
