Commercial Construction

Restaurant Construction, Done Right

Jeff Roth’s first project with EGStoltzfus Commercial Construction was the construction of a new Fuddruckers restaurant on Lincoln Highway in Lancaster, PA. The year was 1997.

He’s now working on his eighth commercial construction project with EGS, his second Turning Point restaurant, located in Camp Hill, PA.

Over the years, Jeff, the CEO of Roth Hospitality, has tapped us for a full range of restaurant construction projects, including multiple Fuddruckers franchises, a TCBY Yogurt, a Popeye’s Chicken, and a Tikka Shack Indian Grub in Hershey.

“There’s a reason why I haven’t used any other contractors,” Jeff said. “Because they get the job done. They get it right. I enjoy the people that I’m working with, and they’re a reputable company.”

Reputable, for good reason, he adds.

“They under promise and over deliver. Always hit their deadlines. And always go that extra mile for me. It was an obvious evolution for me to choose them.”

To illustrate, he said, only five days before staff training was to begin, he discovered a problem in the Fuddruckers in the Mount Joy area. The soda machines were facing one way, and the produce bar was facing another.

“I told them about it, and within two days, it was all changed up like nothing had ever happened,” Jeff said. “Like that’s how it was meant to be. They are very quick to react, take care of a problem on the fly.”

Not surprisingly, Jeff has developed a high level of comfort with the EGStoltzfus Commercial Construction team.

“They know me, I know them,” he said. “We work in tandem. We feed off each other.”

He notes that Shannon Martin, EGS’ operations manager, is very resourceful in getting the pricing he’s looking for.

“We’ve worked together so long that he knows what I’m looking for, so I don’t even really have to even ask for it anymore,” Jeff says. “We work really well together.”

The EGS team is so good, he says, he doesn’t need to monitor their progress as his project moves toward completion.

“If they weren’t so good, I’d have to make sure I was really involved. They do ask for approvals on certain things, and we get to a certain point, but after that, I expect the job foreman and the person running the job to be really self-sufficient and self-reliant.”

And, he says, he’ll keep coming back to work with the EGS team for his restaurant construction projects.

“It’s been a successful relationship for both of us,” he said. “We work great with EGStoltzfus Commercial Construction and we’re looking forward to doing many more projects with them.”
