As part of Women in Construction Week, we’re honored to shine the spotlight on Desi Herman, a valued team member at EGStoltzfus Commercial Construction.

With a remarkable 34 years of experience in the construction industry, Desi’s dedication, skills, and enthusiasm for her work make her a vital part of our team.

A Multi-Faceted Career

Desi’s impressive career at EGS is marked by versatility across multiple roles.

From starting as a receptionist to excelling as a customer service representative, compliance administrator, AR/AP administrator, and now Assistant Project Manager, she’s mastered each role she has taken on.

Desi’s organizational skills and attention to detail are key contributors to her success. She seamlessly juggles her work and makes sure every commercial project runs smoothly from start to finish.

Passion for the Process

When asked what she enjoys most about working in the construction industry, Desi shares, “I love to watch a project grow from the beginning stages to the beautiful end result.”

Continuous Learning & Expertise

Desi’s commitment to growth in her field is evident in her many Procore certifications, which include Admin, Financial Management, Preconstruction, Project Management Core Tools, and Project Manager/Project Management.

Outside of Construction

Outside of work, Desi enjoys an adventurous life! Camping, beach trips, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers, and reading are some of her favorite activities.

Fun fact – Desi learned to ride a motorcycle when she was just 4 years old!

When she’s not exploring the outdoors, you can find her cheering for her favorite team, the Chicago Bears (she proudly admits it!), or enjoying a meal at her favorite local dining spot, Belvedere Inn. She’s also a fan of Kristin Hannah’s book The Women and loves all the Harry Potter movies.
