Adaptive Reuse

Giving New Life to Community Icons

At EGStoltzfus Commercial Construction, we believe adapting an aging structure for the 21st century can be difficult, with any number of challenges and frustrations. But an existing building can be full of hidden treasures, just waiting to be discovered. Or rediscovered.

We love the character and style our forefathers built into many of these structures. So, we can’t wait to bring these iconic structures back to life.

Restored with the Care an Icon Deserves

Our Steeple View project created a home for Friendship Communities (servicing disadvantaged people). Our Fordney Road project turned a historic home into apartments. Our Tikka Shack Indian Grub effort launched a new restaurant serving downtown Hershey.

All were lovingly renovated to bring them up to modern standards. Like adding insulation to meet modern energy codes. Sealing and waterproofing basements to prevent water infiltration. Adding elevators. Controlling noise from nearby highways. Complying with fire codes. Or even abating lead content. And for buildings with historic structures, we have extensive experience meeting a host of other requirements. (See our Historic Preservation page.)

Our goal: to work with you to give new life to existing structures and the communities they serve. Making these projects both satisfying and commercially viable.
